When you use the term “monosexuals” you put gay people, lesbians, and straight people on the same level re: sexuality and that isn’t how this works. Lesbians are not oppressive to bisexuals. They can be biphobic, and that’s called horizontal/lateral aggression, but it is not oppression.

Because a gay man is still oppressed by straight people, they cannot be on level ground re: sexuality. Nor will lesbians. So to say there’s any privilege in being monosexual is, frankly, ridiculous.

Not only that but this term erases a lot of lesbian experiences. Lesbians constantly have to prove their sexuality, are told they just haven’t met the right man. If they have dated a man, people say they aren’t “really” lesbians. They get accused of loving women for the sake of getting male attention.

Stop throwing lesbians under the bus cause you can’t be bothered to type out “people who perpetuate biphobia” or “biphobic people” is unacceptable.
