Jews have the custom of placing rocks (as opposed to flowers) on a grave that they’ve come to visit. It is Jewish custom to have simple funerals, and flowers are considered expensive, excessive, and they only last a few days. The symbolism of placing a rock on the grave is that there will be an eternal reminder that someone who cared about the deceased has visited.
I know someone who, whenever they have a moment that they remember their loved one, they pick up a rock and the next time they visit the grave they place it on the stone. In effect expressing their wish that the dead person could have been there with them at that moment.I wonder if Willow was thinking of Tara when she found that rock, and knew then it was time to go visit her grave.
